My petrified corpse lies face up and mouth agape,
organs and blood melted into a putrid slosh
of festering love and hope.
For years my body withered into weakness as I starved.
My skin cracked dry as my brittle fingers held the frail pieces of my heart
out to you as you walked by.
Soon I grew too weak to walk or stand,
so I dug my bones into the earth as I crawled at your heels,
pathetically still holding out my molding heart,
hoping to be fed.
But I was a nuisance, and so you left me to die.
So here I am,
a lifeless carcass.
A sad story that has already been forgotten.
